First Grade I Can Read Club
August - May   
Kids — For all First Graders--You are invited to join the I CAN READ CLUB. Choose a book from the library shelves and read a page to a Kids’ Library staff member. You are in! Have your picture taken so that we can hang it on our I CAN READ CLUB tree and sign your name in the big I CAN READ CLUB book. You will also receive a bookmark and a book.


Writers' Group
Thursday, May 28    6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — Come join other writers to discuss your work. Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the Library Board Room. No registration required. Open to adults and high school students.

Adults, Teens and Kids — Tune in to reading this summer with the Library’s Adult, Teen, and Kids' Summer Reading Programs! To get started, pick up your Reading Log at the Kids' Library or Adult Information Desk. We’ve got movies, trivia contests, and more for your playlist for the summer.


Legos at the Library
Wednesday, June 3    5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Kids — What can you create? We’ll provide the Legos® so please bring your imagination! All ages, children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.


Movie Night
Monday, June 8    6:30 p.m.
Adults — This extraordinary story traces the marriage of Stephen and Jane Hawking, who quickly wed after Stephen was diagnosed with ALS and given just two years to live. They fought the disease, and Hawking is still alive today — and a world-renowned scientist and author too. Rated PG-13. 2014.


Teen Movie
Monday, June 8    1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Teens — Meet Marvel's new team in an action-packed, epic space adventure. A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe. Rated PG-13. Refreshments served.


Calling all Superheroes!
Wednesday, June 10    1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Kids — Come dressed up as your favorite superhero, or one you've created. Be prepared for superhero training camp (games), help create "Thor's Hammer" treats, and have some superhero fun. Ages 5 and up. Registration is required and can be done in person or by called 630-552-2025. Limit: 50.

Kids — They're cute...they're cuddly...they're back! From the creators of Madagascar comes the hilarious new movie that proves global espionage is for the birds! Free refreshments served. Rated PG. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.


New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, June 13    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help making sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make "plarn" (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats at home. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off at the library.
