First Grade I Can Read Club
August - May   
Kids — For all First Graders--You are invited to join the I CAN READ CLUB. Choose a book from the library shelves and read a page to a Kids’ Library staff member. You are in! Have your picture taken so that we can hang it on our I CAN READ CLUB tree and sign your name in the big I CAN READ CLUB book. You will also receive a bookmark and a book.


Preschool Storytime
Mondays: October 27 & November 3, 10, 17    10:30 a.m. - 11:10 a.m.
Kids — For indepedent 3-5 year olds without a grown-up. Features books, music, and a simple craft. Parents must remain in the Kids' Library during storytime. Call 630-552-2025 to register.

Christmas Tea Tickets on Sale
Saturday, November 1   
Adults — A light lunch of dainty appetizers, tasty sandwiches, delicious desserts, and cozy tea will be served (don’t eat before you come). Entertainment will be provided. This event is for adults and children 10 years old and older. Tickets are $10.00 each and will be on sale at the Checkout Desk beginning November 1. Proceeds benefit the library.


Food for Fines
Saturday, November 1 - Saturday November 29   
Adults — pay your fines by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries for local families who can use assistance around the holidays. Items will be distributed through the Plano Rockin' Christmas Program. Each item donated can be used to pay $1.00 in fines.


Now That You Have Insurance...
Monday, November 3    6:30 p.m.
Adults — Do you need to sign up for or change your health insurance? Find out how deductibles, coinsurance and copays work and how to choose the best policy for your needs and budget. Presented by a Blue Cross & Blue Shield representative. No registration required.


Friends of the Library Book Sale
Friday, November 7 - Saturday November 15   
Adults — The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours. On November 15th all items will be sold for $4.00 a bag (bags are provided) and the sale will close at 2:00 p.m. All VHS tapes & audio cassettes will be given away on the last day of the sale.


New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, November 8    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help make sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make “plarn” (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off at the library. For more information contact Ceil Carey at jackandceil@att.net or 708-846-1704.
