Movie Matinee

Adults — Based on the bestseller, THE BOOK THIEF. During World War II, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. Meanwhile, under the stairs in her home a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents. Rated PG. 2013. Popcorn and drinks will be served.


Is Vocational or Trade School for You?

Adults — Students who may not want to attend a four-year college have other options. Learn about opportunities at trade schools, programs offered by community colleges, apprenticeships and things to consider when choosing a program. Presented by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. No registration required.


Writers' Group
Thursday, February 12    6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — Come join other writers to discuss your work. Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the Library Board Room. No registration required. Open to adults and high school students.


New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, February 14    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help making sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make "plarn" (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats at home. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off a the library.
