Movie Matinee
Monday, November 9    1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Adults — Based on Thomas Hardy’s Far from the Madding Crowd. In Victorian England, independent and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), attracts three very different suitors. This timeless story explores the nature of relationships and love, as well as the ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance. Rated PG. 2015.


Pizza & Pages
Tuesday, November 10    4:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
Kids — For grades 3-5. We'll all read the same book before the meeting, talk about it, and have some pizza! Call 630-552-2025 to register.


Writers' Group
Thursday, November 12    7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — Come join other writers to discuss your work. Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the Library Board Room. No registration required. Open to adults and high school students.


Friends of the Library Book Sale
Friday, November 13 - Saturday, November 21   
Adults — The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours. On November 21 all items will be sold for $4.00 a bag (bags are provided) and the sale will close at 2:00 p.m. All VHS tapes & audio cassettes will be given away on the last day of the sale.


New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, November 14    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help making sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make "plarn" (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats at home. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off at the library. Wednesday Night Book Group
Wednesday, November 18    7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PIE SOCIETY by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows will be discussed. Participants will read a book of their own choosing for December. No registration required. Newcomers are welcome at any time.


Drop-In Job Search and Résumé Help
Thursday, November 19    2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Adults — The Illinois workNet Center will provide one-on-one assistance. No registration required.


KenGen Genealogy Group
Saturday, November 21    1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Adults — For both experienced and new genealogy researchers. No registration required.

All — Library will be closed all day due to the holiday.


Christmas Tea
Sunday, December 6    1:00 p.m.
Adults — A light lunch of dainty appetizers, tasty sandwiches, delicious desserts, and cozy tea will be served (don't eat before you come). Entertainment will be provided. This event is for adults and children 10 years and older. Tickets are $10.00 each and will be on sale at the Checkout Desk beginning November 7. (Please note that we anticipate tickets to sell out on the first day of sales.)
