Writers' Group

Adults — Come join other writers to discuss your work. Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the Library Board Room. No registration required. Open to adults and high school students.


Movie Matinee

Adults — When supermarket chains compel farmers to sell produce at very low prices, the result is unfair wages and subhuman working conditions for farmworkers. Some workers are fighting to help morality triumph over corporate greed. 2014.


Teen Movie

Teens — A cross country coach in a small California town transforms a team of athletes into championship contenders. Rated PG. Refreshments served.


Art Adventures
Wednesday, July 29    1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Kids — Time to be creative! We'll be making a "make and take" craft and have plenty of time for open art exploration. Could get messy! Geared toward preschoolers age 2-5, but all ages welcome. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and can be done in person or by calling 630-552-2025. Limit: 50.

Kids — When a diabolical pirate above the sea steals the secret Krabby Patty formula, SpongeBob and his nemesis Plankton must team up in order to get it back. Rated PG. All ages, children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Free refreshments served.


Legos at the Library

Kids — What can you create? We’ll provide the Legos® so please bring your imagination! All ages, children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.


New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, August 8    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help making sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make "plarn" (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats at home. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off at the library. Adults — Come to the library for one-on-one assistance. An Illinois workNet representative will be available to answer your job search questions and provide résumé assistance.
