New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, November 12    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help making sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make "plarn" (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats at home. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off at the library. Wednesday Night Book Group
Wednesday, November 16    7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — Get together with other readers for an interesting discussion. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd will be discussed. The book for December, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, will be available at the Check-Out Desk. No registration required. Newcomers are welcome any time.


Knit and Crochet Group
Thursday, November 17    10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — This informal group works on their own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. They love to watch each other's projects develop. Participants bring their own supplies. They invite you to stop by and "yarn" awhile. No registration required.


Drop-In Job Search and Résumé Help
Thursday, November 17    2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Adults — Come to the library for one-on-one assistance. An Illinois WorkNet representative will be available to answer your job search questions and provide résumé assistance.


Friends of the Library Book Sale
Friday, November 18 - Saturday, November 26   
Adults — The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours. On November 26 all items will be sold for $4.00 a bag (bags are provided) and the sale will close at 2:00 p.m. All VHS tapes & audio cassettes will be given away on the last day of the sale.


KenGen Genealogy Group
Saturday, November 19    1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Adults — Both experienced and new genealogy researchers will enjoy the KenGen Genealogy Group sessions.

Visit with Santa
Friday, December 2    5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Kids — The Chamber of Commerce invites you to "Visit with Santa" as part the Plano Rockin' Christmas Festivities. Parent, please be sure to bring your camera to take your child's picture with Santa. We will pass out numbers to hold your place in line, but the wait may be long. Please be prepared to enjoy the library until it's your turn to visit with Santa.


Christmas Tea
Sunday, December 4    1:00 p.m.
Adults — A light lunch of dainty appetizers, tasty sandwiches, delicious desserts, and cozy tea will be served (don't eat before you come). Entertainment will be provided. This event is for adults and children 10 years and older. Tickets are $10.00 each and will be on sale at the Checkout Desk beginning November 5. (Please note that we anticipate tickets to sell out on the first day of sales.)
