Friends of the Library Book Sale
Friday, April 21 - Saturday April 29    All Day
Adults — The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours. On April 29th all items will be sold for $4.00 a bag (bags are provided) and the sale will close at 2:00 p.m. All VHS tapes & audio cassettes will be given away on the last day of the sale.


Writers' Group
Thursday, April 27    6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults and Teens — Come join other writers to discuss your work. Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the Library Board Room. No registration required. Open to adults and high school students.


Knit and Crochet Group
Thursday, May 4    10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — This informal group works on their own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. They love to watch each other's projects develop. Participants bring their own supplies. They invite you to stop by and "yarn" awhile. No registration required.


What's the Buzz on Bees and Honey?
Monday, May 8    6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
Adults — Certified beekeeper and Plano resident Hillard Bryant will explain why bees are crucial to our food supply, the difference between honeybees, wasps and hornets, what beekeeping is all about and, of course, the sweet appeal of honey. Location: Meeting Room.


One-On-One Genealogy Research Assistance
Wednesday, May 10    2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Adults — Just getting started on a family history project or looking for help with a genealogy "brick wall'? Call 630-552-2030, stop by the library, or email jvalentine@planolibrary.info to reserve a one-hour help session. Not meant to replace paid genealogical research assistance, this free program offers one-on-one help with your genealogical or local history research. Location: Study Room B.

New Life for Old Bags
Saturday, May 13    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — Help make sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers will meet at the library on the 2nd Saturday of every month to make "plarn" (discarded plastic shopping bags cut into strips for crocheting). Volunteers are also needed to crochet mats at home. Donated plastic bags for the project can be dropped off at the library. Wednesday Night Book Group
Wednesday, May 17    7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — Get together with other readers for an interesting discussion. "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry" by Henning Koch will be discussed. The book for June, "The Light Between Oceans" by M.L. Stedman will be available at the Check-Out Desk. No registration required. Newcomers are welcome any time.
